Bobcats rally for North/South win

Bobcats rally for North/South win

The Saddleback women's golf team rallied to win the prestigious North/South Invitational on Monday at Morro Bay Golf Course in Morro Bay, California.  The Bobcats were 20 shots better on day two to win by six shots.

Saddleback was facing some of the toughest competition in the state, including a Modesto College team that defeated them at the state finals last season.  The Bobcats also battled cool conditions in rallying for the win, as the temperatures never got above the low 60's.

Saddleback trailed College of the Canyons by three shots coming into the day, but it was Modesto that posed the biggest threat at the end.  The Bobcats also had to overcome their worst score of the season on Sunday when they opened the tournament with a round of 334.

Saddleback turned back both threats, shooting 314 on Monday to beat Modesto by six shots and capture the North/South Invitational title.

Nicole Whipple led Saddleback with a round of 76 on Monday.  Her two-day total of 158 was good enough for a tie for third place in medalist play.

Following Whipple on Monday was Caitlin Randolph, who shot 78.  Randolph finished at 160 for the two-day event.  Sabrina Ladd and Kenzie Edson rounded out the team scoring on Monday with rounds of 80 (+8).

Saddleback will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Cottonwood Country Club to play against Orange Empire Conference competition.
