Bobcats remain hot in OEC play

Bobcats remain hot in OEC play

The Saddleback women's golf team is now 30-0 in Orange Empire Conference play after a win on Wednesday at Via Verde Golf Course in San Dimas.  The Bobcats had their lowest round-to-par for the year in shooting 313 to win by 25 shots.

Saddleback's round on Wednesday was +21 as a team, which was one shot better-to-par than a round of 310 at The Lakes Country Club (par-72) earlier in the season as a result of Via Verde being a par-73.

Nicole Whipple had her best round of the season in shooting even par (73).  Whipple was +2 on the opening nine before shooting -2 on the back nine.  She was +1 coming into the final hole and made a birdie on the par-5 finishing hole to finish even.  Whipple finished in a tie for first in medalist play on Wednesday with Fullerton's Ylianna Fernandez.

Caitlin Randolph and Karissa Flores both shot +6 (79) in a tie for sixth place in medalist play.  Kenzie Edson and Sabrina Ladd both shot rounds of 82.

Saddleback is now 30-0 and has a nine game lead on Fullerton College in the Orange Empire Conference standings with five rounds of golf remaining.

Whipple now has a scoring average of 76.4 for the season, which is just an eyelash behind Fullerton's Catherine Lee for the Orange Empire Conference lead.

Saddleback will play again on Sunday and Monday at the North/South Invitational at Morro Bay.
