Gauchos finish 6th at state

The Saddleback women's golf team finished in sixth place at the California Community College Athletic Association State Tournament on Monday in Morro Bay.  It is the second best finish in program history.

Saddleback made its second trip to the state tournament in three years, finishing with its best finish at the state tournament since 2003.  The Gauchos fired a two-round total of 670, which was 34 shots better than their performance two years ago when they finished eighth on the very same course.

Saddleback was in fourth place entering the round, knowing they would have to come up with something special in order to finish in the top three.  The Gauchos finished with a second round total of 339 after a round of 331 on Sunday.

Brittney Do led the Gauchos with back-to-back rounds of 79 on the 5,378-yard layout.  She finished in 13th place in medalist play as a result after finishing fourth last year.

Saddleback also had great two-day totals from Sunhae Son and Anna Stowers.  Son shot 83-82 to finish in 20th place in medalist play while Stowers shot 82-86 to finish in a tie for 27th

Saddleback's sixth place finish ranks second in program history behind a state championship team in 2003.  Their fourth place finish at the Southern California Regional Finals ties the third best finish in program history.
