Gauchos win again at Industry Hills

The Saddleback women's golf team improved to 23-1 with a win at Industry Hills Golf Club on Monday in Industry.  The Gauchos will finish off the regular season at the Orange Empire Conference Championships, starting Wednesday.

Saddleback inched closer to a third straight OEC title on Monday, finishing 18 strokes better than second place Mt. San Antonio College.  The Gauchos tackled the difficult "Babe" course at Industry Hills, named after the legendary Mildred "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias, a dominating force in women's golf and track & field in the 30's, 40's and 50's.  Saddleback shot a team total of 343 on Monday, running past Mt. San Antonio (361) and Fullerton (375).

Saddleback was led by Brittney Do, who shot +9 (80) on the 6,088-yard, par-71 layout.  Do finished in a tie for third place overall with the effort behind Fullerton's Eunsoo Jeon (74) and Irvine Valley's Katie Stribling (75).

The Gauchos also had a tremendous effort from the five position as Anna Stowers shot 84.  It was Stowers' second best round of the season and put her in fifth place in medalist play.  Tannaz Khazeni shot 88 to finish in sixth place.

Saddleback now has a six game lead on Mt. San Antonio with two rounds remaining at the Orange Empire Conference Championships.  The Gauchos only need to show up with four players and post a team score at the OEC Championships in order to win a third straight OEC title.  The OEC Championships will start this Wednesday at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills with the final round next Wednesday.
