Record round paces Gauchos

The Saddleback women's golf team swept through Orange Empire Conference play with a round of 323 at Costa Mesa County Club (Mesa Linda Course) on Wednesday in Costa Mesa.  The Gauchos were paced by a record round from sophomore Tannaz Khazeni.

Khazeni had a personal-best round of 76 on Wednesday on the 5,041-yard layout.  She was 5-over-par on the front nine (40) before heating up on the back and shooting 1-over (36).

Khazeni was equaled by teammate Brittney Do, who shot 38-38 for a round of 76.  Seven shots back of the duo was Sunhae Son (83) while Tomoko Kim shot 88.

Saddleback finished 31 strokes in front of both Mt. San Antonio College and Fullerton College while both Orange Coast College and Irvine Valley College did not have enough team members for a team score.  Mt. San Antonio was awarded second place by way of a tiebreaker.

The individual medalist was Irvine Valley's Katie Stribling, who shot +2 (72). 

Saddleback will play again next Wednesday when they host the Orange Empire Conference at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, scheduled for 11:00 AM.
