Do shares the lead at state finals

Saddleback women's golfer Brittney Do is tied for the lead after the opening day of the California Community College Athletic Association women's golf championships at Morro Bay.  The freshman from Marina High School shot 1-under par on opening day.

Do headed to Morro Bay as the MVP of the Orange Empire Conference and finished tied for second last week at the Southern California Regional Finals.  She opened the 36-hole state championships by shooting 71 on the 5,055-yard layout along the Central Coast.

Do made the turn at even par and carded two birdies and a bogie on the back nine to finish in a tie with Sierra College's Nao Bando after day one.  Irvine Valley's Kylie Sok was one shot off the lead after shooting 72.

Modesto Junior College leads Santa Barbara City College by eight shots in team competition.

Players will tee off for the final round on Monday at 8:30 AM.
