Gauchos finish 5th at SoCal Finals

The Saddleback women's golf team finished in fifth place at the Southern California Regional Finals on Monday at Temecula Creek Golf Club in Temecula.  It's the second highest finish for the Gauchos in the past eight years.

Saddleback entered the tournament after winning a second consecutive Orange Empire Conference championship but knew the competition would be tough if they were going to finish in the top four to advance to the state tournament this next week in Morro Bay.  The Gauchos came up just three shots short of qualifying for the tournament after shooting a two-day total of 709.

Freshman Brittney Do had a round of 77 of Monday after an opening round of 79 on Sunday.  Do finished in a three-way tie for second place in medalist play, four shots back of Fullerton'a Kaylee Jeon.

Saddleback finished the season 31-1 in Orange Empire Conference play.  It was the best winning percentage in conference play since finishing 13-0 in 2006 when the scoring for team competition was radically different.

Do will advance to the state tournament to play in individual medal play on November 12-13 at Morro Bay Golf Course in Morro Bay, California.
