Gauchos edge closer to OEC title

The Saddleback women's golf team took another step towards claiming their second straight Orange Empire Conference title on Wednesday at Tustin Ranch Golf Club.  The Gauchos went 4-0 behind Brittney Do.

Saddleback won its first conference championship in 10 years last fall and seems dead set on not letting go of the title.  The Gauchos captured their fourth consecutive win and with three rounds left in the conference season lead rival Irvine Valley College by six wins in the standings. 

Brittney Do was again the catalyst, firing a 7-over-par round of 79.  Do finished in second place for medalist honors behind Irvine Valley's Kylie Sok, who shot 77. 

The Gauchos shot 363 as a team to beat IVC by eight shots on a day when scores were up on the 6,064-yard layout.  Fullerton finished 28 shots back in third place.

Saddleback will host the Orange Empire Conference next Wednesday at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club.
