Shadid qualifies for regional championship

Saddleback sophomore Haley Shadid posted a two-day score of 173 (84-89) during the Orange Empire Conference championship tournament, helping her team to a sixth place finish at the event with a total team score of 762.

It wouldn't be enough to help the Gauchos qualify as a team for the CCCAA Southern Regional which will be held November 8-9 at the Alisal Ranch golf resort in Solvang, but it would be enough to get Shadid qualified as an individual competitor.

Shadid averaged 88.2 strokes per round during conference competition, placing her 15th overall amongst all conference competitors and helping her earn second-team all-conference honors.  Her best score on the season was an 84, which she posted three times this season at Oak Creek, Twin Oaks, and on the first day of the conference championship at Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning.

Saddleback's team score of 762 edged out Orange Coast (764) for sixth place at the conference championship but was too far behind Palomar (705) to catch the Comets for fifth place.  Mt. San Antonio won the event with a team score of 689 and went on to capture the conference title.
