Saddleback hires new women’s basketball coach

The Saddleback athletics department announced this week that it has hired Jordan Hamamoto to be the new women's basketball coach.  Hamamoto comes to Saddleback from Cypress College where he was an assistant coach for the men's program.

Hamamoto spent nine years at Cypress, last serving as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.  During his tenure, he was in charge of player development and also ran the strength and conditioning program.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity to come in and build the program," Hamamoto said.  "Saddleback has a rich history in athletics.  The goal is to develop an elite program."

Hamamoto played basketball at Western High School before playing for a season at Irvine Valley College.  He then played at both Lake Superior State University (MI) and Northwestern College (IA).

Hamamoto graduated from the University of La Verne with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (2016) and earned his master's degree in physical education from Azusa Pacific University (2018).

Tentatively, Saddleback is expected to open the 2024-25 season at Cerritos College on November 6.
