Ito the latest Gaucho to commit

The Saddleback women's basketball team is back in the news this week as it was announced that sophomore Kara Ito has decided to commit to a four-year institution.  The latest commitment gives the Gauchos five athletes moving on to the next level.

Saddleback had a successful campaign in 2016-17 on the court and with that success comes athletes earning opportunities at the next level.  The Gauchos now have a fifth on the move as Ito decided to commit to Chapman University.

Ito was a second team All-Orange Empire Conference selection after averaging 5.9 points and 3.5 rebounds-per-game.  She led the team with 171 assists for the year while playing in all 31 games.  Ito was also second on the team in steals (58) and had a season-high 14 points against Irvine Valley College on February 1.  She put her name in the program's record books on December 27 when she set the single-game record with 12 assists against the University of Antelope Valley JV.

Chapman is located in Orange, California, and plays an NCAA Division III schedule in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  The Panthers finished 17-10 overall in 2016-17, falling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the SCIAC finals.
