Gellatly and Welk earn All-OEC

The Saddleback softball season came to a close last week and with the end of the season comes the selection of the all-conference team.  Jillian Gellatly and Paige Welk were both named to the All-Orange Empire Conference Team over the weekend.

Gellatly was named Second Team All-OEC after finishing the season with a .314 batting average and leading the team with five doubles.  She finished with a .918 fielding percentage, playing most of the season at shortstop while filling in with eight appearances on the mound as a pitcher.  Gellatly led the team with a .400 batting average in conference play, boasting a .467 on-base percentage.  Her biggest offensive game came against Orange Coast College late in the season when she went 3-for-4 with two RBI against the Pirates.

Welk garnered Orange Empire Conference Honorable Mention status after leading the team with a .348 batting average for the season.  In addition, she led the team in on-base percentage for the year (.452).  Welk batted .391 during the Orange Empire Conference schedule, leading the team with 18 hits.  She had multiple three-hit games during the season, going 3-for-3 against Golden West on April 1 and 3-for-3 against Orange Coast on April 19.
