Gauchos run well at Brubaker

The Saddleback men's cross country team finished in eight place at the Brubaker Invitational on Friday at Irvine Regional Park.  The Gauchos had three finishers in the top-25.

Saddleback is a bit shorthanded in 2018 and thus has little room for error.  The Gauchos ran with determination on Friday in finishing eighth at one of the top events of the season.

Saddleback had three finishers in the top-25 as Scott Hickman was 15th in the team competition, Julian Lasting was 20th and Sebastian Arias was 22nd

Hickman ran the 4-mile course at Irvine Regional Park in 21:23.7 to finish second among competitors from the Orange Empire Conference.  He was just 9.7 seconds from a top-10 finish in recording his fourth top-20 finish of the season.

Lasting was not far behind in finishing the trek in 21:40.4.  Right on his heels was Arias, who had his fourth top-25 finish of the season in crossing the finish line in 21:49.0.    Two other runners for Saddleback on Friday were Connor Yartz (23:56.4) and Rory Keane (24:00.7), who finished 66th and 67th, respectively, in the team competition.

Saddleback gets a three week break before competing in the Orange Empire Conference Finals.  Meet time on October 26 is scheduled for 9:00 AM in Riverside.
