Gaucho men run third at Brubaker
The Saddleback men's cross country team finished third at the annual Brubaker Invitational on Friday at Irvine Regional Park. Ulysses Orozco paced the Gauchos with a second place finish.
Saddleback is still trying to play catchup after missing a couple of weeks of practice to start the season after a team vehicle accident forced many to take some weeks away from training. Now back and ready to run, Saddleback turned in a solid performance with great expectations moving forward.
Orozco was his normal self, finishing second out of 94 runners and finishing the 4-mile course in 8:23.1 and just 4.4 seconds off the lead pace set by San Bernardino Valley's Michael Teran. Orozco led the Gauchos to an 89-point team performance, finishing second among programs from the Orange Empire Conference.
Joining Orozco with top-25 performances were Brian Aguirre (11th), Mark Delgado (15th) and Ronen Skarsten (25th).
Saddleback will run again on Friday in the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational in Walnut, California. Race time is set for 10:00 AM
