Bobcats rally to spook Biola

The Saddleback men's water polo team rallied for a 14-12 victory in overtime at Biola University on Wednesday in La Mirada.  Andrew Barnuevo scored seven goals in the win.

Saddleback fell behind early as Biola had a 7-3 lead nearing the midway point of the third quarter.  The Bobcats made a big run to tie things up and send the game to overtime before knocking off the Eagles on what was supposed to be a celebration for the home team and their seniors playing the final home game of the season.

Barnuevo kept Saddleback in the game through the early stages, scoring five of the first seven goals for the Bobcats.  Armand Le Goff then got into the action, scoring a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to tighten the score.  Donald Robertson scored his only goal of the game with 59 seconds remaining in regulation as Saddleback outscored Biola 6-2 over the final eight minutes to tie the game at 11-11.

Biola opened the scoring in overtime with a goal in the closing moments of the first overtime period.  The Bobcats then rallied for three goals in the second overtime period as Matthew Arellano evened the score with 2:40 remaining and Le Goff scored goals with 2:10 and 1:25 on the clock to complete the rally.

Barnuevo finished with seven goals on 13 shots while Le Goff had five goals on 11 shots.  Elliot Cooper played the entire game in net, recording 12 saves for the game.

Saddleback (19-4) will play next in the Southwestern Tournament on Saturday when the Bobcats take on Grossmont College (9:10 AM), Southwestern College (1:15 PM) and Palomar College (3:45 PM).
