Cuesta Champs

The Saddleback men's water polo team won two more contests on Saturday to capture a tournament win at Cuesta College.  The Bobcats outscored opponents 72-30 over the four games.

Saddleback is now 15-2 overall and 12-0 versus California community college programs after defeating Cuesta College and American River College on Saturday in San Luis Obispo. 

Saddleback opened in the morning session with a 19-11 victory over host Cuesta.  The Bobcats scored the first four goals of the game and had a 10-4 lead at the half in putting away the Cougars.  Andrew Barnuevo scored a game-high seven goals in the game.

Saddleback then took on American River in the final game of the tournament.  The Bobcats fell behind 3-1 in the opening quarter before racing past the Beavers for a win.  Saddleback scored seven straight goals over a 6:32 period in grabbing a 7-3 advantage midway through the second quarter.  The Bobcats increased the lead to seven after taking an 11-4 lead into the fourth quarter.  Barnuevo again led all scorers with six goals.

Saddleback has a big showdown with Golden West College on Wednesday in Huntington Beach, with the two programs tied atop the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) standings.  The Bobcats and Rustlers are scheduled to start at 2:30 PM, with the winner laying claim to the regular season OEC title.
