May defends conference title

The Saddleback men's track & field team competed in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) prelims at Riverside City College this past Friday.  Sophomore Daniel May defended his title in the javelin throw.

May has been a force all season for the Bobcats and currently has the second longest throw in the state this year with a toss of 57.8 meters at the Cerritos Invitational in mid-April.  On Friday, May was trying to defend his OEC title from a year ago when he won with a throw of 57.34 meters.  May was successful, launching a throw of 57.5 meters on his sixth and final attempt to beat his closest competitor by 2.32 meters.

May picked up 10 points for the team with the win and the Bobcats currently sit in third place at the conference finals through a handful of events.

Saddleback picked up six more points from Ryan Horner, who finished third in the long jump.  Horner had his best leap of the season with a jump of 6.56 meters, putting him in the top-50 in the state this season.

Saddleback will compete at the OEC Finals this Friday at Riverside City College.
