Gaucho men finish 10th at state

The Saddleback men's track & field team saved its best for last in finishing 10th in the state at the California State Championships this past weekend.  Freshman hurdler Charles Michinock finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles as the Gauchos had a top-10 finish for the third time in four seasons.

Michinock (pictured) ran the hurdles in 53.87 seconds, just an eyelash out of third place.  The run gave Saddleback a tie for 10th place with Merritt College.  It is the best finish since 2011 when the Gauchos finished 8th in the state and the sixth best finish in program history.

Kyler Fisk followed up a third place finish on Friday in the 10,000 meters with a third place finish in the 5,000 meters.  Fisk ran the race in 14:58.97 and had the top time for any freshman in the field.  It was a personal-best for Fisk by just under seven seconds and puts him at No. 4 all time in program history.

Saddleback finished with 25 points as a team, just two points behind ninth place Fresno City College.  Riverside City College ran away with the men's title, scoring 151 points.
