Men’s tennis picks up win
The Saddleback men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 5-4 victory over Fullerton College on Tuesday in Fullerton.
Saddleback took advantage of a short bench for Fullerton as the Hornets had just four players, giving the Bobcats three wins out of the gate. Needing just two wins, Saddleback picked up a win at No. 4 singles from Sean Viravouth, who defeated Felix Jayamaha (7-6, 6-2) to give the Bobcats a 4-3 advantage heading to doubles play.
Viravouth and Max Banks then teamed to outlast Michael Lumang and David Gutierrez at No. 2 doubles, 8-5, to secure the team win. Paramount to the win was the performance from Dawson Janeski in singles play. Janeski forced a marathon match at No. 1 singles, wearing out Gutierrez for his doubles match.
Saddleback is now 1-13 overall on the season. The Bobcats will face Riverside City College on Thursday in Riverside to close out the Orange Empire Conference schedule. The match is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
