Bobcats pick up win at Fullerton

The Saddleback men's tennis team won its first match of the season with a 6-3 win at Fullerton College on Thursday.  The Bobcats swept through doubles play in cruising to the win.

Saddleback opened up a big lead, winning all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead.  Brett Batey and Max Svensson were 8-4 winners at No. 1 doubles and Matthew Heys and Adrian Cole were dominating with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.  The biggest fight in doubles play came at No. 2 where Oliver Svensson and Shota Tokutsu had to go deep into a tiebreaker before winning 10-8.

Saddleback split in singles play, winning at 3-5 to close out the team match.  Oliver Svensson, Tokutsu and Heys all were two-time winners on the day after winning in sinlges play.  Heys (pictured) was perhaps the most impressive, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. 

Saddleback is now 1-5 overall and 1-2 in Orange Empire Conference play after the win.  The Bobcats will host two matches next week, with Irvine Valley visiting on Tuesday (2:00 PM) and Orange Coast on Thursday (2:00 PM).
