Gauchos out-joust Knights

The Saddleback men's tennis team won a key non-conference match on Tuesday with a 6-3 victory against San Diego City College on the Saddleback Courts.  The Gauchos showed depth in improving to 8-5 overall.

The playoffs aren't all that far away and given the week is filled with non-conference matchups, Saddleback knew it was critical to get a win against San Diego City on Tuesday.  The Gauchos took care of business, dispersing of the second place team in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference to give them some much-needed help in the race for the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Saddleback won 4-of-6 singles matches and needed just one win in doubles play to win the team match.  Oliver Ludwig and Ryan Burns took care of business at No. 3 doubles when they raced past the duo of Rafael Maniego and Jonah Kim to give the Gauchos the clinching point.  It was the second win of the day for Ludwig, who was a winner at No. 6 singles by default.

Saddleback is now 8-5 overall heading into a non-conference match against Palomar College on Thursday.  Match time with the Comets is scheduled for 2:00 PM on the Saddleback Courts.
