Fabre receives Arthur Ashe Award

The Saddleback men's tennis team received some great news this week when it was announced that sophomore Ryan Fabre had received a prestigious honor.  Fabre received the Arthur Ashe Award at the state banquet leading up to the state tournament.

The Arthur Ashe Award is given to one individual that exudes leadership, sportsmanship and athleticism.  Fabre was the 2018 winner for his work on and off the court.

"Ryan is our team captain and is involved in many extracurricular activities," head coach Bud Davis said.  "He's an exceptional example of what a student-athlete should look like."

Fabre volunteers time as a translator and does other charitable activities such as preparing food boxes for the homeless.   He received the award at the men's tennis banquet at the Crown Plaza Hotel (Ventura) on April 25.

Fabre won his first singles match at the state tournament this past weekend before falling in the round of 32.  In addition, he teamed with Chris Torcaso to make it all the way to the round of 16 in doubles.
