Men’s tennis opens playoffs at Ventura

The Saddleback men's tennis team found out on Sunday that it had qualified for the Southern California Regional Playoffs.  The Gauchos will play at Ventura College on Tuesday.

Saddleback finished the regular season 10-8 overall and in fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference.  The Gauchos were deemed the No. 6 seed by the coaches and will play at Ventura, who finished 12-1 overall and in first place in the Western State Conference West Division. 

Saddleback and Ventura did not play this season but did compete against some common opponents.  The Gauchos were 2-1 against other programs from the WSCW, beating both Glendale (6-3) and Bakersfield (7-2) but falling to Santa Barbara (3-6).  Ventura finished 1-0 against OEC competition, beating Cypress College (5-4). 

Saddleback and Ventura are scheduled to start at 2:00 PM in Ventura on Tuesday with the winner advancing to the SoCal Semifinals.
