Gauchos exterminate Hornets

The Saddleback men's tennis team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 7-2 win against Fullerton College on Tuesday at the Saddleback Tennis Complex.  The Gauchos were too tough on the back end for the Hornets in moving two games above .500 with two matches remaining on the schedule.

Saddleback won 2-of-3 doubles matches to start as Tyler Bloom and Chris Torcaso battled to an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles and Chad Henry and Oliver Ludwig gutted out a 9-8 (7-2) win at No. 3 doubles.

Torcaso, Henry and Ludwig would all end up as two-time winners on the day, with each moving on to win at singles play.  Torcaso and Henry were easy winners, with identical 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.  Ludwig had to battle through a grueling three-set match, winning the third set tiebreaker 10-6.

Other wins in singles play were turned in by Ryan Fabre (7-6, 6-1) and No. 1 singles and Ivan Ozerets at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-1).

Saddleback (9-7, 3-5) will have the rest of the week off before traveling to Cypress College next Tuesday.  Match time is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
