Gauchos down Warriors in men’s tennis
The Saddleback men's tennis team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 6-3 win at El Camino College on Tuesday in Torrance. The Gauchos were dominant in singles play in a final tune-up before entering conference play.
Saddleback shot out of the gate, winning 5-of-6 singles matches in securing the win before it got into doubles play. The most impressive win may have come at No. 5 singles where Chad Henry made quick work of Ricky Liu 6-3, 6-0.
Two-time winners on the day were both Tyler Bloom and Chris Torcaso. Bloom (pictured) won a hard-fought battle at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Trey Vasquez. Meanwhile, on court four, Torcaso handled Kyle Ou 6-4, 6-1. Bloom and Torcaso then teamed for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles.
Saddleback opens Orange Empire Conference play against two-time defending state champions Irvine Valley College Next Thursday. Match time next week is scheduled for 2:00 PM on the Saddleback Courts.
