Gauchos handle Vaqueros on the courts

The Saddleback men's tennis team defeated Glendale College, 6-3, on Friday at the Saddleback Tennis Complex.  The Gauchos scored a number of comfortable wins in improving to 2-1 on the season.

Saddleback showed a lot of depth in the back end of the lineup in cruising past Glendale.  They won 4-of-6 singles matches and steamrolled past the Vaqueros in doubles play.

Tyler Bloom got things going with a challenging three-set win over David Preciado at No. 2 doubles, losing a second-set tiebreaker 7-2 to force a third and final third set.  He then raced past Preciado 10-5 to give the Gauchos a 4-2 lead heading into doubles play.

Bloom then teamed with Ryan Fabre (pictured) for a dominating 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles to secure the team match.  Fabre had just gotten done beating Natsuka Abe at No. 3 singles play, 6-3, 6-2.

Other two-time winners on the day were Chad Henry and Oliver Ludwig, who were both dominant in singles play before teaming for a shutout at No. 3 doubles with an 8-0 win.  Henry blasted Glendale's Kyle Moss in singles play, 6-0, 6-0 while Ludwig was too much for Jesse Breidenbach, 6-1, 6-0.

Saddleback will play again when they host College of the Desert next Friday.  The Gauchos and Roadrunners are scheduled to start at 2:00 PM on the Saddleback Courts.
