Men’s doubles advances at state

The Saddleback men's tennis team is in Ojai, California, this weekend to play in the state tournament at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club.  Riku Goto and Michael Park are on a roll, advancing to the round of 16.

Goto (13-seed from SoCal) had a bye in singles play in round one before playing American River College's Dylan King in the round of 64.   Goto cruised past King, 6-2, 6-2, to advance in the tournament.  He later fell to Diablo Valley's Garret Goldman in the round of 16, 6-3, 6-0.

Goto then teamed with Park (pictured) in doubles, defeating Santa Rosa College's Oscar Lam and Jeremy Masseloux, 6-1, 6-3 on Thursday.  Goto and Park then defeated Dale Gutierrez and Logan Rinder from San Diego City College on Friday, 6-1, 6-1.  They will play the winner of Diablo Valley and Mt. SAC doubles teams currently playing, later in the day on Friday.

Vance La and Connor Mengert defeated Jake Hu and Enrique Martinez from College of the Desert by default on Thursday before falling to Michael Lopez and Nathan Saragoso from Modesto Junior College in a three-set marathon.
