Gauchos plow past Bakersfield

The Saddleback men's tennis team is off to a quick start, with the latest win being an 8-1 victory over Bakersfield College at the Saddleback Courts on Friday.   The Gauchos plowed past the Renegades, winning all six singles matches.

Saddleback opened the team match with back-to-back nail-biters at #1 and #2 singles.  Both Riku Goto and Vance La were forced to go three sets, but both prevailed and the Gauchos were off and running.  Saddleback continued to sweep through the rest of the singles matches as Connor Mengert, Jake Stivers, Kian Saidi and Kris Harris won 48-of-68 games.

Saddleback used the opportunity to get every man on the roster some playing time during doubles play, winning two of three matches from the Renegades.  Michael Park and Jonathan Elkan combined for a comfortable 8-2 win at #3 doubles.

Saddleback will be in action again on Tuesday when they host Santa Barbara City College.  The team match is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM at the Saddleback Courts.
