Dimino sets another record, Gauchos 25th at state

The Saddleback men's swim season came to an end on Saturday with a 25th place finish at the CCCAA State Championships at De Anza College.  Gaucho Andrew Dimino set another new record with his finish in the 100 Freestyle.

Dimino had top-10 finishes in two different events at the finals.  He finished fourth in the 200 Freestyle on Friday before finishing ninth in the 100 Freestyle on Saturday.  Dimino touched the pad in 1:42.32 in the 200 on Friday, which was 0.10 seconds faster than his qualifying time earlier in the day.  He then swam a program-record 46.04 in the 100 Finals on Saturday, which easily eclipsed the old program record set by Skylar Campbell in 2014 (46.25).  It was 1.55 seconds faster than his qualifying time earlier in the day and put him in ninth place at the state finals.

Dimino now holds program records in three different events.  He set the record in the 50 Freestyle last season at the Orange Empire Conference Championships with a time of 21.20.  This season he set the new mark in the 200 Freestyle at the Orange Empire Conference Championships with a time of 1:41.63.  On Saturday he set his third record in the 100 Freestyle at the CCCAA State Finals.

Saddleback had one other swimmer earning points at the state finals with Luke Prendeville finishing 11th in the finals of the 1,650 Freestyle.  Prendeville finished in 17:06.87, eclipsing his fastest time of the season by 1.33 seconds.

Saddleback finished in 25th place as a team.
