Two Bobcats make all-conference team

The Saddleback men's golf team had two members make the All-Orange Empire Conference Team on Monday.  In addition, the Bobcats will send three players to the regional finals.

Jack Shipton and Tyler Chapman earned their way onto the All-OEC Team with solid seasons in 2023.  Shipton and Chapman will be joined by Dallas Ryan at the 3C2A Regional Finals in individual medalist play.

Shipton was a workhorse the entire season, finishing in a tie for sixth in scoring average for the season at 73.9.  He was fourth among OEC Coastal Division players, winning two events.  Shipton's best round of the season came at Navy Golf Course when he shot 3-under-par (69) to win by three shots. 

Chapman made a surge in the final rounds of the season and seems to be getting hot heading into regional play.  He recorded the low score in the opening round of the OEC Finals on Monday when he shot 1-under-par (71).  He finished with a 76 in the afternoon round to finish tied for third in the 36-hole event. 

Another member of the 2023 squad qualified for the 3C2A Regional Finals as Dallas Ryan made the field for the event.  Ryan finished with a 78.0 scoring average, shooting a season-low round of 73 at Los Lagos in late March.

The 3C2A Regional Finals will take place at Rio Bravo Golf Club in Bakersfield on May 6.
