Jack Shipton 5th in opener
The Saddleback men's golf team opened the season at the Pt. Conception Open on Sunday and Monday at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc. Sophomore Jack Shipton led the Bobcats.
Saddleback finished 10th as a team on a course that played very tough for most of the players on hand. Shipton handled the elements the best for the Bobcats, shooting rounds of 77 and 78 to finish fifth in medalist play. His +11 total on the par-72, 7,105-yard layout was six shots off the pace set by College of the Canyons' Ethan Posthumus.
Shipton was followed by Dallas Ryan, who finished with a two-day total of 173 to finish tied for 38th in medalist play.
Saddleback will be back in action on February 14 when they travel to Steele Canyon Golf Club for the Cuyamaca Classic.
