Bosanko guides Gauchos to 8th place
The Saddleback men's golf team opened the season with an 8th place finish at the Pt. Conception Open in La Purisima Golf Course on Sunday and Monday. Sophomore Chase Bosanko rallied back to finish eighth in medalist play.
Saddleback was 1-of-20 teams playing in the event, which features some of the top teams in the state. The Gauchos fired rounds of 416 and 411 to finish 46 shots off the pace set by Reedley College. Saddleback tied for sixth on day two of the tournament, 13 shots back of Cypress College.
Bosanko battled back after a rugged first day when he shot 80 and was buried in 24th place in medalist play. He shot a 3-over-par round of 75 on Monday, which was the second best round of the day behind Mt. San Antonio's Benjamin Sander.
Saddleback also received decent finishes from Jackson Philbin (81-78) and Jacob Martin (75-87), who both finished in the top-30.
Saddleback will play again next Monday at the Orange Empire Conference Tee-Off Classic at Candlewood Country Club.
