Gauchos fire best score in two years

Gauchos fire best score in two years

The Saddleback men's golf team finished in fourth place in Orange Empire Conference play on Monday at Victoria Country Club in Riverside.  It was the best team score the Gauchos have posted in over two years.

Saddleback was just one shot behind 2018 state champion Cypress College and 17 shots off a blistering pace set by Mt. San Antonio College.  The Gauchos were paced by freshman Chase Bosanko, who fired a 2-under-par round of 70 to finish tied for third in medalist play.

Bosanko was not alone as four different Gauchos finished in the 70's.  Cole Griffo shot even par (72) to finish in sixth place in medalist play while Lawrence Young shot 76 and Kai Castro 79.  Christian Plasso shot 80 to round out the team score as Saddleback finished +17 as a team.

The round of 377 was the best score for a Saddleback team since shooting 377 at the SoCal Preview at El Camino Country Club on March 20, 2017.  It was also the low round of the year for Bosanko (pictured), whose previous low was a round of 74 at the Eagle Classic at Soboba Springs Country Club.

Saddleback will be back in action next Monday when they travel to Costa Mesa Country Club for Orange Empire Conference play.
