Griffo cards top-20 finish at regional finals
The Saddleback men's golf season came to a close on Monday at the Southern California Regional Finals at Bakersfield Country Club. Sophomore Cole Griffo finished in a tie for 19th place in individual medalist play.
Griffo was in the hunt for a spot in the individual state finals at Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta, California, next Monday. Unfortunately, he finished one shot away from making the field after carding rounds of 75 and 79 on Monday on the 6,822-yard, par-72 Bakersfield Country Club golf course .
Griffo finished in a tie with three others for 19th place overall after shooting +10 on Monday in the 36-hole SoCal Finals. He was locked into a tie for seventh place among players that didn't represent a team at the state tournament, with the top-6 making the field for the state tournament.
Griffo finished the season in fifth place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 74.4 scoring average and was an All-Orange Empire Conference selection.
Three teams from the OEC advanced to the state tournament in Cypress College, Orange Coast College and Riverside City College.
