Former Gaucho wins prestigious award
The Saddleback men's golf program received some great news this week when it was announced that former Gaucho Austin Briggs had won the Big East Conference Male Golfer-of-the-Week. Briggs played at Saddleback last season.
Briggs was an Orange Empire Conference All-Conference selection last season after averaging 74.2-per-round and finishing sixth in the conference. He has started out hot at St. Johns University, shooting 75, 72 and 72 to finish 17th overall at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Briggs was awarded for his efforts in being named the Big East Conference Male Golfer-of-the-Week. Briggs finished at 3-over-par with a 219 total and hit 12 of a possible 14 fairways in his final round, driving the green on the par-4 15th before two-putting for birdie.
Briggs will be back in action for St. Johns on April 7-8 at the Towson Spring Invite.
