Gauchos take third in conference opener

The Saddleback men's golf team placed seventh in the Eagle Classic hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College on the Soboba Springs golf course.  There were 15 teams in the tournament - including all six Orange Empire Conference colleges - and the event served as the conference-opener for the 2017 season.  The  Gauchos placed third out of all the OEC teams.

Riverside (367) was the top OEC team to finish, followed by Orange Coast (372) and Saddleback (384) while Cypress (386) was just an OB penalty shot behind.  Shane Barriera shot a 2-over-par 74 to finish tied for 14th overall in the 90-player field and seventh out of all of the conference players.  Chris Reck added a 76 with Austin Briggs and Kirk Edmondson both posting 77's.

The Gauchos are back in action on March 8 when Cypress College hosts a conference match on the Navy Course.
