Bobcats sweep weekly conference awards

The Saddleback athletics department learned on Monday that two Bobcats swept the Orange Empire Conference Athlete-of-the-Week Awards for this past week.  Men's basketball player James Burries and softball pitcher Alexa Pfutzenreuter both had outstanding performances in winning the weekly award.

Burries led the men's basketball team to an upset win over Chaffey College in the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) Southern California Regional semifinals on Saturday.  He finished with a game-high 27 points in leading the Bobcats to an 80-74 win to put the program one win from qualifying for the state tournament.

Pfutzenreuter tossed the first no-hitter for the softball program since the 2020 season.  She held Mt. San Jacinto College to no hits while recording five strikeouts and allowing only one walk.  Pfutzenreuter improved to 4-2 on the season with the win.
