Bobcats open with a win

The Saddleback men's basketball team opened the season with a 93-76 win against Antelope Valley College on Thursday at the "We Play Hard" Tournament at Ventura College.  The Bobcats received outstanding performances from John McFadden and James Burries in the win.

Saddleback had a massive second half, scoring 55 points in the final 20 minutes while shooting 53% from the field.  McFadden and Burries were a combined 20-for-29 in the second half, combining for 48 points.

McFadden finished with a game-high 32 points on 13-for-20 shooting while collecting 10 rebounds.  Burries finished with 31 points on 14-for-25 shooting, finishing with a game-high 15 rebounds. 

Saddleback trailed by four points (65-61) with 9:25 remaining when going on a massive run to blow past the Marauders.  The Bobcats went on a 13-1 run to take a lead, holding Antelope Valley to only one point over a 4.5-minute span.  Saddleback had its biggest lead of the game with 1:50 remaining when Burries completed a three-point play for an 89-72 advantage.

Saddleback will play again on Friday against host Ventura College at 6:00 PM.
