Shirley is latest commit

The Saddleback basketball program is back in the news as another member of the 2019-20 team has made a commitment to a four-year university.  Sophomore Acton Shirley will continue his basketball career at Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI). 

Shirley played in 18 games for Saddleback in 2019-20, missing the early part of the season before playing in 17 of the final 18 games of the season.  He averaged 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds-per-game, shooting 76% from the field and 84% from the free throw line.  Shirley scored in double-figures three times with a high of 18 points against Orange Coast College in early January.

Shirley will transfer to IUPUI, located in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Jaguars play at NCAA D1 schedule in the Horizon League.

Shirley came to Saddleback from Gardner Webb University where he was a part of the Bulldog program.  Previous to GWU, Shirley lettered in basketball, wrestling and track & field at Pike County High School in Georgia before graduating in 2017.

Shirley is the seventh member of the 2019-20 squad to sign with a four-year school.
