Jeff Oliver takes over men’s basketball program

The Saddleback athletics department welcomes Jeff Oliver to the Gaucho family as the next head coach of the men's basketball program.  Oliver comes to Saddleback on the heels of a 16-year career at the four-year level.

Oliver was the coach at Cal State San Bernardino, where he made nine NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.   He won six California College Athletic Association championships at San Bernardino while boasting a 92% graduation rate.

Previous to Cal State San Bernardino, Oliver had two stints as a coach at San Bernardino Valley College where he was the head coach in 1999-2000 and an assistant coach in 1997-98.  Oliver was also an assistant coach at Ventura College in from 1995-97.

"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to be the next head men's basketball coach at Saddleback College," Oliver said.  "The winning tradition that has been established over the years, by a who's who of legendary coaches, is unbelievable. I hope to continue the success of our student-athletes both on and off the court with ultimate goal of moving them on to a four-year university."

Oliver takes over for Andy Ground, who spent 20 years at Saddleback as a coach and another two as a player.
