The Saddleback men's basketball program was back in the news this week when it was announced that former player Maurice Jones was taken in the inaugural Canadian Elite Basketball League Draft.  Jones was taken by the Fraser Valley Bandits, located in southwestern British Columbia.

Jones player at Saddleback in 2014-15 and 2015-16, helping the Gauchos to a state title in 2014-15 and a state runner-up in 2015-16.  He played in 65 games for the Gauchos and was a Second Team All-Orange Empire Conference selection in 2015-16 when he averaged 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds-per-game.  Jones then transferred to Northwest Nazarene University, where he played two seasons for the Crusaders.  Most recently, Jones played for Deportivo Norte in Agentina.
