Gauchos steamroll Olympians for 3-0 start

The Saddleback men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on Saturday with an 89-57 win against San Diego Mesa College at the Fullerton College Tournament.  The Gauchos will host Southwestern College on Wednesday before heading to Utah.

Saddleback completed a perfect week at the Fullerton College Tournament on Saturday, darting out to a 13-0 lead in the opening half and never looking back.  The Gaucho defense didn't allow a point for the first five minutes of the game in dismantling an Olympian team en-route to an easy victory. 

Saddleback received a big performances off the bench from Sean Birk, Tyler O'Donnell and Dillon Waikle.  The threesome combined for 34 points and 16 rebounds as the Gauchos finishing shooting 53.3% for the game.  Saddleback had as much as a 46-point lead with 13+ minutes remaining before taking their foot off the gas pedal.

J.J. Overton led Saddleback with 16 points and five rebounds, playing only 16 minutes.  Overton finished with 51 points and 15 rebounds over the three days, shooting 71% from the field. 

Saddleback will play next on Wednesday night when they host Southwestern College (3-1) at 3:00 PM.  The Gauchos will then head to Utah to play in the Salt Lake Community College Tournament Friday and Saturday.
