Gauchos topple Olympians in OT

The Saddleback men's basketball team picked up a win on Saturday with a 75-69 victory at San Diego Mesa in overtime.  The Gauchos had a slow start but rallied for the win in improving to 4-2.

Saddleback trailed 25-23 at the intermission in a game that was close throughout.  The Gauchos and Olympians ended up going into overtime where Saddleback took over at the free throw line.

Saddleback finished the game 30-for-36 at the charity stripe, led by freshman forward Shawn Stith.  He finished with a team-high 20 points and nine rebounds, finishing 12-of-14 from the free throw line.

Saddleback also got a solid performance off the bench from sophomore Jake Hawes.  After tying the program record last season for three-pointers, Hawes buried four more against San Diego Mesa on Saturday in finishing with 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.

Saddleback (4-2) will head to Palomar College this Friday-Sunday for the Palomar Tournament.  They open against Southwestern College (2-4) at 1:00 PM on Friday.
