Gauchos Corral Vaqueros in Non-Conference Tune Up

The Saddleback Gauchos (15-1) led from start to finish in defeating the visiting Glendale Vaqueros (4-8), 62-47, on Wednesday afteroon in the Saddleback campus gym.

The victory was Saddleback's final tune-up before the start of Orange Empire Conference play on Friday, January 8, when the Gauchos will host Riverside City College at 5:00 p.m. followed by a matchup of both college's women's teams at 7:00 p.m.

Saddleback's starting back-court duo of T.J. Shorts (pictured) and Devonte Klines sparked the team from the opening tip as Shorts led all scorers with 15 points and four assists while Klines added 12 points and contributed three blocked shots.  Both guards also added five rebounds while Maurice Jones led the Gauchos with eight rebounds.

The Gauchos led by as many as 19 points and were able to play all 14 players suited up for the rare matinee game.  Saddleback also held a 47-33 rebounding advantage.

Saddleback has won four straight Orange Empire Conference titles and five of the past seven titles.
