Bio

Haynes comes to Saddleback from El Camino Real High School in Los Angeles, CA, where he had a successful high school career.  A 4-year varsity starter, Haynes was the starting point guard for two CIF runners-up as well as two L.A. City Section CIF champions. In El Camino Real’s first ever Division 1 City Section Championship, he was their leading scorer and made four free throws to clinch the game in the last 30 seconds. In both the 2011 and 2012 seasons Haynes was named second team all-CIF. In 2013 and 2014 Haynes garnered First Team All-City honors as the leading assist man in the L.A. City Section. Over his 4-year high school career Haynes had a 3.5 GPA and is a full acaedmic qualifier. Haynes’ brother, Calvin, played basketball at Oregon State University and his sister played at UNLV.

Coach Ground’s Quote: “Throughout Maleke’s high school career he has proven himself a winner on the highest stages. He has a basketball pedigree in his family, and he really understands the game. We expect that to continue here in his time at Saddleback. He brings a toughness and leadership to the team, and does a phenomenal job of getting the whole team involved and making the guys around him better. He needs to continue to do that and that should lead to great success for our team.”
