Saddleback to host Patriotic Bowl

The Saddleback football team found out it will host the Patriotic Bowl next Tuesday at 2:00 PM.  The Bobcats will face Bakersfield College from the National Division Northern League. 

Saddleback finished 7-3 for the year and tied for second place in the National Division Southern League (5-2).  With the finish the Bobcats qualified for a bowl game for the first time since 2019.  Bakersfield finished 6-4 overall and 4-3 in National Division Northern League play.  

Saddleback versus Bakersfield is a repeat from the 2018 Patriotic Bowl when Saddleback kicker Matthew Freem kicked a 32-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining to beat the Renegades, 34-31.  Saddleback is 3-2 lifetime against Bakersfield, dating back to the first-ever meeting in 2005.

Saddleback's last appearance in the post-season came in 2019 when they fell to College of the Canyons, 58-53, in the opening round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
