Maxwell is latest Bobcat to commit
The Saddleback football program is now up to 11 commitments to four-year schools after it was announced on Wednesday that wide receiver Darius Maxwell had made a commitment to Wheeling University. Maxwell was a part of a late signing class that is likely to increase heading into the summer months.
Maxwell will play at Wheeling University, located in Wheeling, West Virginia. The Cardinals plan an NCAA D2 schedule within the Mountain East Conference.
Maxwell finished with 12 receptions for 240 yards and four touchdowns in 2021. He also ran the ball a couple of times and was a kick-return specialist on the special teams. Maxwell scored in three different games in 2021, recording a season-high two touchdowns on October 30 against Southwestern College. Maxwell had a high of 79 yards receiving against Ventura College on October 2.
Maxwell is the 11th member of the Saddleback football program to commit to a four-year program for the class of 2022.
