Nolan and Bell head all-league team

The Saddleback football team had another sensational season in 2019 and the conference coaches convened last week to determine an all-league team.   Chance Nolan and Tyriek Bell were chosen as conference players-of-the-year while 12 others made the All-National Division Southern League Team.

Nolan set a handful of new standards in 2019, shattering a number of program records and guiding the Gaucho offense to one of the better units in the state.  Nolan was named the National Division Southern League Offensive Player-of-the-Year for his efforts.  He finished with 3,315 yards passing with 38 touchdown passes while leading the team in rushing with 1,069 yards and six more scores.

Bell led the Saddleback defense all season long, leading the team in tackles, tackles-for-loss and sacks.  As a result, he was named the National Division Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Year.  Bell totaled 79 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss and 4.5 sacks during the course of the season.

Joining Nolan and Bell on the National Division Southern League First Team were Gabriel Martinez (OL), Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda (WR), Cole Harrity (AP), Matthew Freem (K), Emmanuel Ukhueligbe (DL), Kai Ross (DB), Cavan Leonardo (P) and Shawn Poma (PR).  Players named the second team included Zachary Huff (OL), Tyler Huff (OL), Connor Smith (DL) and Bobby Blandino (DB).

Saddleback finished 9-2 in 2019, making it to the Southern California Regional Semifinals.
