Former Gaucho signs NFL contract

Saddleback football was back in the news this week when it was announced that former player Johnny Stanton has signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings.   Stanton led the Gauchos to the state title game in 2015.

Stanton had a huge season for Saddleback in 2015, leading the Gauchos in both passing and rushing.  He was the National Division Southern League Offensive-Player-of-the-Year, completing 63% of his passes for 3,471 yards and 27 touchdowns while rushing for 752 yards and 12 scores on the ground.

Stanton continued his football career at UNLV where he played in 10 games for the Rebels in two seasons, throwing for 10 touchdowns and rushing for another three.

Stanton signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings after impressing the Vikings at their rookie tryout camp.  He was signed as a fullback/athlete for the Vikings.
