Gauchos continue to receive praise

The Saddleback football team is back in the news this weekend as it was announced on Friday that two of the players have been named All-America by JCGridiron.comEmari Demercado and Clinton Allen were both named to the team, which consists of players from all around the country.

Demercado had a sensational freshman campaign when he totaled 1,026 yards on the ground with 15 rushing touchdowns while catching 54 balls for 443 yards and two scores through the air.  His rushing numbers were the 10th best in Saddleback history for a single season while his 104 points scored ranked sixth.  Demercado led the team in scoring and rushing while finishing second on the team in receptions.  He was one of nine running backs selected to the JCGridiron.com All-America Team.

Allen was a monster in the passing game for Saddleback in 2017, leading the team with 76 receptions for 1,218 yards and 12 touchdowns.  He ranked No. 1 in the state in receiving yards-per-game (121.8) and his 12 touchdowns was the fifth most in a single season by a Gaucho receiver in program history.  Allen was one of 12 wide receivers recognized by the JCGridiron.com All-America Team.

JCGridiron.com selects players from every program in the nation, including both CCCAA and NJCAA programs.  This year's squad consists of close to 125 players from the 133 community colleges nationwide that have football programs.
